Interfaith rally in San Jose to affirm solidarity with Muslims-I
On September 10, 2010, an Interfaith rally was held in San Jose to affirm solidarity with the Muslim community who were under physical attack in recent days.
The interfaith event, dubbed as “The Celebration of Diversity,” was sponsored by the American Muslim Voice (AMV), the Council of Churches, Santa Clara County, Interfaith Council on Economic & Justice and a host of other groups to express opposition to those who oppose the construction of Musques or who propose to burn Islam’s holy book, the Quran.
Samina Sundas, the founding Executive Director of the American Muslim Voice, was amongst a host of speakers at the rally who called for celebration of diversity and values all human beings regardless of race, religion, social status, or creed. “We should strive to create a culture of peace, acceptance, mutual respect and harmony.” (Photos by Flicker)
